TOPIC: "Another look at Managed Futures:
the technical factors behind that distinctive strategy"
Managed Futures at the index level have delivered the long term value added the
investor looks for and therefore became a separate asset class within alternative
area. Still, they are not used that extensively in the institutional portfolios despite
the availability of more than 1000 programs! We will focus on what drives the
Managed Futures strategy from an aggregated (top level) perspective. This will
allows us to specify a benchmark that is a simplification of the reality but is still very
diversified. Its main characteristics are the technical nature with varying parameters
depending on the underlying markets, the costs involved and the diversification
versus the index components.
