Technically Speaking 2009 - August 22, 2009!
On Saturday, August 22, 2009, in conjunction with UTVi, we had a FREE seminar for all MTA members at the Taj President Hotel, in Mumbai. This seminar focused on the current state of global Technical Analysis (TA) and discussed the upcoming establishment of the TA Indian Association. Phil Roth, CMT: Philip J. Roth, a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), is currently the Chief Technical Market Analyst at Miller Tabak + Co. He is in his forty-first year as a Wall Street professional, having been the Chief Market Technician at Morgan Stanley, Shearson Lehman, EF Hutton, and Loeb Rhodes. Currently Past-President and a director of the Market Technicians Association, and a former director of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), he has been voted No. 1 in Charting and Technical Analysis in the Reuters survey. He is a frequent commentator in the printed and electronic media. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Business at Fordham University, and has lectured at Baruch, Columbia, Cornell, Georgia Tech, Howard, Rutgers, Tulane, and the University of Richmond.
Ralph Acampora, CMT: Ralph Acampora is the New York Institute of Finance’s Director of Technical Analysis Studies. Mr. Acampora has been a pioneer of technical analysis for over 40 years and has taught at the institute for 37 years. Before joining NYIF, he was Director of Technical Research at Knight Equity Markets. Prior to this, he worked for 15 years at Prudential Equity Groups as its Director of Technical Analysis. Mr. Acampora is one of Wall Street's most respected technical analysts and has been consistently ranked by Institutional Investor for more than ten years. He is regularly consulted for his market opinion by the major business news networks as well as national financial publications. He is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), a designation he helped create and which is now recognized by the National Association of Securities Dealers as the equivalent of a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). With 40 years of experience, Mr. Acampora has been instrumental in the development of modern-day technical analysis. He co-founded the Market Technicians Association (MTA) in 1970, is a past president of that group and continues to be an active member of the society. He also founded and was the first chairman of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA), comprising over 4,000 colleagues around the world. Mr. Acampora continues to participate in the education of technical analysts, serving as teacher and lecturer for the New York Institute of Finance (NYIF) for the past 37 years and the Security Industry Association's annual Wharton seminars. • Philip Erlanger - View Presentation
Phil Erlanger is the President of Phil Erlanger Research and has been providing research to institutions since the early 1990s. Prior to starting Phil Erlanger Research, Phil was the Senior Technical Analyst for Fidelity Management & Research. Phil came to Fidelity from Advest where he was the Chief Technical Analyst through most of the 1980s. Phil has developed Erlanger Chart Room, a technical analysis platform that focuses on advanced technical indicators that include in depth sentiment and seasonal studies. This platform runs on eSignal, Bloomberg and MB Trading. Phil has also developed the free www.goodmorningwallst.com educational video series that offers videos that teach how to use technical analysis in the real world. Mr. Erlanger is a two-time past president of the Market Technicians Association. In 1997, Mr. Erlanger won the MTA Best of the Best Award for Computer Assisted Analysis and has lectured at Universities such as Rutgers, MIT, Boston University, Howard University, Emory and as an adjunct Professor at Bentley College where he taught a course in Technical Analysis. He is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in Economics.

• Mark Galasiewski - View Presentation
Mark Galasiewski (gala-SHEV-ski) began his analytical career in May 2001 at an institutional brokerage in Stamford, Connecticut (USA), researching fundamentals for a broker who specialized in short-sell recommendations. After joining Elliott Wave International (EWI) in 2005, Mark contributed to Robert Prechter’s Elliott Wave Theorist and then joined EWI’s Global Market Perspective team covering Asian stock indexes. Since 2008 he has also edited EWI’s newest monthly market publication, the Asian-Pacific Financial Forecast. For six years during the 1990s he lived in Japan. He has also travelled to many other countries whose markets he analyzes. A graduate of Middlebury College (Vermont, USA) in East Asian Studies, he is fluent in Japanese and conversant in Mandarin Chinese. |
