New York Chapter

The New York Chapter of the Market Technicians Association is chaired by the team of Salma Abdulla, CMT, CFA, Michael Sroga, CMT, Alan Lax, CMT and Dan Russo, CMT. One of the most active regions of the MTA, the New York Chapter holds meetings each month featuring some of the top names in the industry!

Both members and non-members are invited to attend all chapter meetings at no cost.

Participation in all New York Chapter Meetings qualifies you for 3 MTA Continuing Education (CE) Credits.

Dan Russo, CMT

Kevin Hockert, CMTDan Russo is an institutional sales professional at Needham and Company where he combines the research being done by the firm's fundamental analysts with his own technical analysis to generate actionable trading and investment ideas for sophisticated investors. Prior to joining Needham in 2011, Dan worked in an institutional sales role at Susquehanna International Group from 2007 – 2011. Before transitioning to the sales desk at Susquehanna he was a Specialist and member at the New York Stock Exchange responsible for maintaining markets in the domestic equities, US-listed foreign equities and closed-end funds.

Dan is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and a member of the Market Technicians Association. He holds an MBA in finance with an international designation from Fordham University.

 Salma Abdulla, CFA, CMT,

Salma Abdulla Salma Abdulla is Portfolio Manager at E. Magnus Oppenheim & Co., Inc., a registered investment advisory firm.  She uses both technical and fundamental analysis to run a concentrated equity portfolio for the firm’s clients.  Previously, Salma was a Futures Trader at Goldenberg Hehmeyer Trading Co. Ltd.  She received her undergraduate degree from McGill University and her Master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.  Salma holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations.  She also serves as co-chair of the MTA's Women in Technical Analysis committee.
