The Chicago Chapter of the Market Technicians Association is chaired by the team of Jim Wagenhofer, CMT, Brian Stoner, CFA, CMT, and Jonas Thorrud. One of the most active regions of the MTA, the Chicago Chapter holds meetings each month featuring some of the top names in the industry!
Both members and non-members are invited to attend all chapter meetings at no cost.
Participation in all Chicago Chapter Meetings qualifies you for 3 MTA Continuing Education (CE) Credits.
About the Chapter Chairs
Samuel Borrelli, CMT
Samuel Borrelli, CMT is a trader for Driehaus Capital
Management. He is responsible for executing trades and
providing ongoing information to portfolio managers regarding
market sentiment, trading environment, volatility and trends.
Mr. Borrelli joined the firm in 2011.
Prior to joining Driehaus Capital Management, Mr. Borrelli was
an assistant trader/portfolio manager at Miro Financial and a
trader at Sharmac Capital Management. He began his career
with Magnetar Capital as an operations specialist.
Mr. Borrelli received his B.A. in Economics from Wabash
College in 2007 and holds the Chartered Market
Brian Stoner, CFA, CMT
Brian Stoner started his career in the financial industry as a stockbroker in the mid 90’s and spent the better part of twelve years in that industry working at various brokerage firms. Since then, he's focused his career on the financial data industry working at trading platform companies and now currently at a company that has one of the best financial market data platform’s on the market and my main focus is on the charting applications. Brian received his B.S. in Finance from Florida State University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and the Charted Market Technician destination.
Jonas Thorrud is the Risk Manager for Phillip Futures, a Chicago and Singapore based futures clearing firm. He previously founded Stratus Trading, an Introducing Broker where he managed customer trading accounts according to a proprietary technical strategy.
