TITLE: Baltimore MTA Meeting - “Better Position Management”
LOCATION: K.M. Moore & Co., LLC, 111 South Calvert St., Suite 2700, Baltimore, MD 21202 DATE: Tuesday, July 13, 2010
TIME: 5:30 – 7:00 PM
PRESENTER: Graham Beck
TOPIC: Better Position Management
There are two avenues to higher risk-adjusted returns: better entry/exit signals or better position management. The search for the former is difficult and expensive but the latter is still a burgeoning and promising area. We will look at some recent theoretical results pertaining to optimal exits in an ideal world: when to take profit, stop loss or continue holding. We will also look at optimal leverage ratios and examine how these can affect your trading strategy.
Graham Beck started his career in finance as a quantitative analyst building equity-index trading systems at a small European hedge fund before moving into the higher-frequency FX space at a hedge fund consultancy in New Zealand. He has also worked as an independent consultant on quantitative trading platform development and risk management procedures. He is currently working toward a PhD in Applied Math at Johns Hopkins University where his research is primarily focused on optimal utility-based trading strategies and hedging. FEE: None – Light refreshments will be provided.
RSVP: Space is limited. Please RSVP no later than Friday, July 9th to Kevin Moore, CFA, CMT, 443-451-4397 or kevin@kmmoore.com
