How CSI students enter MTA's CMT Program

1) Email a copy of your Notice of Course Completion to Marie Penza at marie@mta.org.

2) Join the Market Technicians Association as an Affiliate if you have not done so already.

Joining the MTA as a Member or Affiliate is required to register into and continue in the CMT Program, and your dues must be continuously maintained (paid) during your time in the CMT Program. The Affiliate application and payment process is done through the MTA website (please see "Join Now!" on the top horizontal navigation bar).  Annual dues are $300.00US and are paid on a rolling basis so you are paid for one year from when you join the MTA. If you are currently a FULL time student, you can join the MTA for $75.00US per year. Annual dues are separate from and do not include CMT program or exam fees.

If you are already an MTA Affiliate, please let Marie Penza know you intend to continue on with CMT Level 2. Your records will be manually updated once you have paid the CMT Program one-time registration fee of $250.00; this will indicate that you have ‘passed’ Level 1, and allow you to register and pay for CMT 2. As stated above, we would still need your Notice of Course Completion.

3) In addition, those entering the CMT Program at Level 2 are still required to pay the $250US CMT Program one-time registration fee, usually paid at Level 1 when registering into the CMT Program and taking the CMT 1 exam directly from the MTA.

4) Register for the CMT Level 2 Exam

Receiving the CMT equivalent by taking your CSI class does NOT automatically register you for the CMT 2 exam, so you need to be sure to do this step. After paying for the exam, you will continue on to Prometric (Prometric.com) to schedule your exam. There are no student discounts for the CMT exam fees. CMT exam fees are separate from and do not include MTA annual dues.

The CMT Program is a 3-level process. Completing the process means you have passed the CMT 1 and 2 exams AND passed the CMT Level 3 Exam. CMT Candidates have five (5) years to complete the CMT Program.  This time period will begin when you pay the one-time CMT Program registration fee, so your CMT Program DEADLINE will be five years from that time.
